Abstract

The pollution of the environment with heavy metals is currently a serious environmental problem. One of the sources of heavy metal compounds formation is oil and gas enterprises, including drilling platforms. At the moment, the content of heavy metal ions in wastewater from offshore drilling is not controlled, which can lead to pollution of sea waters. The article deals with the problem of pollution of the water area as a result of the operation of a drilling platform located in the Barents Sea. Based on the study of water consumption and water disposal schemes, including water injection into the reservoir, it was concluded that it was necessary to control the content of heavy metal compounds, and sampling points were determined at different stages of water treatment. To select the most effective approach to the analysis, a comparative assessment of methods determining the content of TM ions was carried out, as a result of comparing the characteristics, the method of inversion voltammetry using the hardware-software complex Ecotest-VA was chosen. According to the results of the study, excess concentrations of cadmium, zinc and copper were detected in comparison with the standards for seawaters. Based on this, recommendations were made for the modernization of the existing technological scheme of water treatment.
