CSD Center, directed by V.V. Mustafina has gained over 10 years of wide experience in working with projects contributed to ensuring chemical and environmental safety.

Key activities of CSD Center:

• CSD Center has implemented about 100 projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan (RK), related to improvement of system for regulating POPs, mercury control, development of Pollutant Release and Transfer Register as a publicly available database of releases and transfers of potentially hazardous chemicals, etc.;
• CSD Center staff members took part in preparing the National Profile for Chemicals Management in Kazakhstan and Report on current situation in the field of chemicals management in Kazakhstan (2013);
• CSD Center updated the National Plan for the implementation of the Stockholm Convention on POPs in RK for 2017-2028;
• CSD Center contributes to development of system for registering chemical products and developing safety data sheets for chemical products;
• CSD Center is a member of the International Persistent Organic Pollutants Network (IPEN) and actively collaborates with the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, local executive authorities, as well as international organizations such as UNDP, UNEP and others;
• CSD Center is the leading center in Kazakhstan for training and up-skilling in the field of environmental protection, including chemical safety, waste management, water resources treatment, etc.

Membership in organizations:

• member of the Council on transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan towards Green Economy;
• member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Energy of the RK;
• member of the Working Group on Legislation in the Field of Waste and Hazardous Chemicals under the Waste Management Department of the Ministry of Energy of RK;
• member of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI);
• member of the Global Network for Destruction of POPs (IPEN);
• member of the International Solid Waste Management Association (ISWA).

Awards:

V.V. Mustafina was awarded the following state awards of RK for conscientious long-term diligent work, high professional skills, and active public activities on dissemination of environmental knowledge:

• medal ‘Kazakhstan Republikasynyn ekologiya salasynf 30 zhyl’ (2018);
• Honorary badge of the Minister of Environmental Protection ‘Excellence in the field of ecology’ (2010);
• Certificate of Honor of the Minister of Environmental Protection (2009).

Author of more than 100 publications in scientific journals and collected papers, including publications on waste management.
