Vladimir A. Kolesnikov
Born July 5, 1952.
Professor, Doctor habil. (Engineering), Head of Chair at Dmitry Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. He was twice elected the Rector of Mendeleev University (2005–2015). Moscow, Russia.
Russian scientist specialized in the field of industrial electrochemistry, safety and resource-saving technologies for processing modern materials, creating environmentally friendly, resource-saving processes in electroplating, liquid industrial waste processing, and water treatment.
V.A. Kolesnikov engaged himself with Dmitry Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, where he moved through the positions of an assistant, associate professor, professor, vice-rector for scientific work, rector. Currently, he is the head of Chair, teaching and lecturing on ecology, energy and resource saving electrochemical technologies.
Key research results:
- Development of basic principles of a new research area related to physicochemical fundamentals of intensification and increasing efficiency of membrane electroflotation processes for extraction of dispersed compounds and emulsions from liquid industrial wastes;
- Fundamental research results covering theoretical concepts on the role of interfacial phenomena at the following phase interfaces: solid-liquid solution, electrode-solution, gas-dispersed phase-aqueous solution in the electroflotation process of concentrating hydrophilic phase including interfacial phenomena at the phase boundary in the processes of membrane electroflotation concentration and extraction of dispersed phase and emulsions from aqueous media;
- Formulating physicochemical principles of electroflotation extraction of the dispersed phase of inorganic compounds: hydroxides, carbonates, phosphates, sulfides, metal oxides (Cu, Ni, Zn, Cd, Fe, Al, Cr, Pb), as well as the dispersed phase of organic compounds;
- Designing technological procedures for intensifying and increasing efficiency of membrane electroflotation process;
- Creating novel resource-saving environmentally friendly technologies for extraction of nonferrous metals, inorganic and organic dispersed compounds from liquid industrial wastes.
Implementation of novel technologies:
- local technology for extraction of non-ferrous metal ions from wash water derived from technological processes resulting in recovery of valuable components;
- technology for extraction of dispersed compounds such as Me(OH)2, MeCO3, Me3PO4, MeS, MeO, etc. from technological washings;
- procedure for neutralization of liquid industrial waste derived from manufacturing of semiconductor materials and ceramic products;
- integrated technology for organizing water-recycling system at industrial enterprise with a capacity of up to 50 m3/hour.
V.A. Kolesnikov supervised the industrial implementation of novel modern membrane electroflotation technologies, equipment and water treatment devices at more than 80 industrial enterprises of the Russian Federation and abroad.
V.A. Kolesnikov organized the industrial and technical park EkoKhimBiznes-2000+ which integrates environmental management with energy and resource saving technologies.
Memberships and awards:
- co-chairman of educational and methodical association of Russian universities in the field of chemical technology and biotechnology;
- member of the Council of Rectors of Moscow;
- full member of the International Academy of Higher Education Sciences (since 2007);
- member of Editorial Board of the journals ‘Chemical Industry Today’, ‘Electroplating’, ‘Water. Chemistry and Ecology’;
- chairman of specialized doctoral council on technology of electrochemical processes;
- corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (since 2014);
- winner of the Presidential Award in the field of education (2003);
- winner of the Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology (2008).
V.A. Kolesnikov is actively involved in organizing cooperation between Mendeleev University and foreign universities, institutions and companies of USA, Germany, France, UK, Belgium, China, Italy, Tunisia, Algeria, Poland, Cuba, Hungary, Czech Republic, Canada and Switzerland where he is known as a highly-skilled expert in the field of industrial electrochemistry, environmentally friendly resource-saving processes in electroplating, production of printed circuit boards, managing liquid industrial waste, and water treatment technologies.
Author of more than 700 research publications, including 10 monographs and over 30 patents. Supervisor of 30 PhD theses.
