Editorial Policy and Mission of the Journal

The editorial policy is based on the general principles of publication ethics developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) - for publishers, reviewers and authors and is built upon the Standards of the International Sociological Association (ISA).

The publisher uses a science-based approach and is guided by the principles of objectivity, professionalism and impartibility.

The journal mission statement is:

  • to create an open platform for the exchange of data, results of fundamental and applied studies conducted by academic researchers, experts and analysts who work in the field of ensuring chemical safety in Russia and other countries,
  • coverage of scientific, technical and industrial issues in the above field,
  • reporting on recent advances of modern science and technology,
  • discussing new results of fundamental and applied research in the field of ensuring chemical safety and protection of human health and environment from exposure to hazardous chemical factors.

The journal aims at  

  • developing active and fruitful communications within Russian professional scientific community, to create a room for open discussions  and free expressing opinion enhancing the quality of scientific research;
  • facilitating convergence of science and practice seeking opportunities to apply results of scientific research both in industry and management regarding tackling ecological problems;
  • performing activities on raising awareness of advanced global concepts and developments in the field of ensuring chemical safety;
  • strengthening international cooperation, promotion of the Russian science and enhancing dissemination scientific research results of the Russian authors  in the international professional community;
  • creating broad geographical diversity of authors and experts from various regions of Russia and other countries.

PRINCIPLES OF EDITORIAL POLICY

The papers submitted for consideration:

To be approved for publication, the text originality (uniqueness) percentage value should be at least 85%. In some cases, by decision of the Editorial Board, text uniqueness of at least 75% is allowed (for example, in the case of a self-authored review or in the case of a review of regulatory documents related to chemical safety field). It is not allowed to insert an unchanged form of already published figures, tables, diagrams, etc.

The Editorial Board is responsible for preparing an article for publication, checking it for plagiarism and providing fair peer review; but it is not responsible for the reliability of data and the validity of bibliographic citations provided by the authors. 

Manuscripts which are contrary to norms of the constitutional law cannot be published. 

Decision to accept or to reject the papers is taken by the Editorial Board in accordance with the Peer Review Regulations.

The Editorial Board retains the right to make text changes or deletions in submitted papers or reject those manuscripts which do not conform to the journal scope and style in accordance with Publication Ethics rules.

Manuscripts that have been rejected because of their non-compliance with the Rules fot the Articles are not peer reviewed.

The author who is submitting his/her manuscript to the Editorial Board gives the publisher rights to publish it in Chemical Safety Science and to transfer the manuscript to third parties (double-blind review procedure is mandatory).
