Public leader, policy-maker, and government figure, Republic of Armenia (RA), Yerevan.

Professional background and positions:

  • 1964–1970 – educating at the Department of Biophysics, Yerevan State University (YSU);
  • 1971–1974 – research work in the field of biochemistry/ biophysics followed by successful defense of Ph.D. thesis in 1975;
  • Since 1976 – teaching the course “Environmental Protection” at the Faculty of Biology of Yerevan State University;
  • Since 1980 – scientific secretary of the Scientific Council on Biosphere Problems under the Presidium of the Armenian Academy of Sciences;
  • Since 1985 – was invited to work at the Scientific Research Institute for Scientific and Technical Information under the Government of the Armenian SSR, as the head of the department providing scientific and technical information for the leadership of the RA;
  • Since 1988 – became one of the founders of the national environmental movement, also participated in the women's movement as a member of the Presidium of the Republican Council of Women and the Presidium of the League of Armenian Women;
  • 1990 – the First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan responsible for the environmental and health complex;
  • 1991–1994 – Minister of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Armenia;
  • Since 1994 – teaching at Yerevan State University;
  • Since 1995 – began cooperation with international organizations (UNDP, UNEP, USAID, EU, WB, OSCE, SIDA, REC, etc.) as a national expert on ecology and sustainable development;
  • January 1996 – created the Non-Governmental Organization Association for Sustainable Human Development headed by her till present;
  • Since 1997 – representative of the Republic of Armenia in the international arena as the head of the above NGO.

  • YSU professor and academician of the International Academy of Ecology;
  • Chairman of the Environmental Commission of the Public Council under the Prime Minister of the RA;
  • Member of the Expert Council under the Ministry of Environment of the RA;
  • Member of the Council of NGOs under the Ministry of Environment of the RA;
  • Member of the Council of Experts at the Aarhus Center of the RA;
  • Member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Emergencies of the RA;
  • Member of the Urban Planning Council at the Mayor’s Office of Yerevan;
  • Member of the Environmental Education Network at UNICEF Armenia;
  • National expert of UNDP Armenia.

K.S. Danielyan has been granеed the status of “Honorary Citizen of Yerevan” by the Council of Elders of the City of Yerevan.

In 2018, the Armenian-Russian (Slavic) University awarded her the title of Person of the Year in the field of ecology and sustainable development.

Scope of interests:

Ecology and sustainable development including global challenges and positive international experience; addressing problems and positive national experience in the Republic of Armenia, possible development in the Republic of Armenia in the above field.

Author of 260 research publications, co-author and editor of more than 30 books, including national reports on ecology and sustainable development.
