Елена Тервурт работает непосредственно в лаборатории многофункциональных материалов, которая  была основана в 2007 году. Основным направлением лаборатории является синтез широкого спектра функциональных материалов ( в том числе наночастиц оксидов металлов) для возможных применений в устройствах накопления и преобразования энергии, зондировании, оптике и фотокатализе.
